President of New Edubiase United, Abdul Salam Yakubu, has firmly rejected a proposal seeking to extend the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential term from two to three terms.

The proposal, which is expected to be deliberated at the 31st Ordinary Congress scheduled for Tuesday, August 12, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, also recommends the introduction of two vice presidents — one of whom must be a woman — in a bid to strengthen women's football governance.

While the proposed amendment has received mixed reactions from Congress members, Salam Yakubu has made his stance unequivocally clear.

Speaking to Asempa FM, the outspoken club president expressed strong opposition to any extension of the GFA presidency beyond the current two terms. "I have written to the FA to demand the number of clubs that have proposed for the extension of the presidential mandate." Yakubu disclosed that he has formally written to the GFA, requesting a list of clubs that submitted the proposal, stressing that any decision of such magnitude must involve broader stakeholder engagement.
