President John Dramani Mahama has announced that teacher and nursing trainee allowances will soon be paid every month through the Accountant-General's Department, as part of measures to improve transparency and consistency in disbursement.
The announcement was made on Friday, July 4, during the official launch of the No Fees Stress initiative at the Koforidua Asokore SDA Training College.
The flagship programme, which fulfils a 2024 campaign promise, seeks to remove financial barriers to tertiary education for Ghanaian students. "I am pleased to inform you that we are also working on your trainee allowances, and so you will start receiving your alert on your trainee allowance soon.
This time, we are structuring it in a way where you will receive it monthly," he said.
