Barbados came alive this week as Carifesta XV welcomed Grammy-nominated Ghanaian reggae star Rocky Dawuni, who described his global journey as a mission to use music as a bridge between Africa and its diaspora. "For the past two months, I've been on the road-Europe, Ethiopia, the United States-and now Barbados," Dawuni shared. "For me, the music is about connecting with our brothers and sisters in the diaspora.

Appearing at Carifesta alongside regional leaders, including Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Dawuni reflected on the event as a powerful space for unity.

"To bring my music here with the presence of the Prime Minister is an opportunity to fly the flag of Ghana-the black star, the beacon of freedom in Africa-while reminding our brothers and sisters that it's time to make their way back to the continent."Dawuni also called for Africa to strengthen cultural exchange initiatives similar to the legendary FESTAC festivals of the past.
