A naming ceremony at Gbawe Zero in the Greater Accra Region turned tragic on Friday, June 20, 2025, after gunfire erupted, leaving one person dead and another critically injured.

According to a report by Citi Newsroom on June 20, 2025, the violence is believed to have stemmed from a clash between two rival Asafoatse traditional leaders or warriors during the event.

Eyewitnesses said what was meant to be a joyful family celebration quickly descended into chaos when a disagreement escalated into gunfire.

The Gbawe Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are yet to release an official statement regarding the identities of those involved or the motive behind the altercation.
