The Minority in Parliament has requested that the Minister of Energy and Green Transition and the Minister of Finance appear before the house to discuss the potential impact of the Israel-Iran war on Ghana's economy.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Friday June 20, Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin said an update from the ministers would help lawmakers make informed decisions. "We want the Majority Leader to programme these ministers to appear before Parliament and update Parliament on these happenings in our economy.
What we want to achieve is that this update will guide us in how we communicate with our constituents," he said.
The Minority Leader also called on the Business Committee of Parliament to schedule the Finance Minister to appear next week to repeal the Energy Sector Levy Amendment Act, which introduced a GHS1 increase in petroleum product prices.
