President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to end the persistent power cuts in parts of the North East Region, assuring residents that his government will stabilize electricity supply as part of a broader energy reform agenda.

Speaking at a durbar of chiefs and people during his 'Thank You Tour' of the region on Saturday, Mahama emphasized the urgent need to address power challenges affecting homes, schools, and small businesses. "We cannot industrialize without electricity.

We cannot learn, we cannot work or innovate in the dark," he said. "I'm aware of the persistent power fluctuations in the eastern zones of this region." He revealed that under the National Energy Expansion Plan, his administration will prioritize the looping of the Pawlugu substation, a key move aimed at reducing outages and stabilizing supply. "As part of the National Energy Expansion Plan, we are going to prioritize the looping of the Pawlugu substation which will help stabilise the supply and prevent the outages that is crippling small businesses and affecting households in the North East Region," Mahama added.
