The Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Bright Asamoah Brefo, has called on government to build a modern stadium in Bibiani to allow newly crowned Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani GoldStars to host CAF Champions League matches in their hometown.
Addressing Parliament on Monday, the MP stressed the urgent need for infrastructure that meets CAF's Category A requirements.
GoldStars are preparing for their debut in Africa's premier club competition after securing their maiden league title in the 2024/25 season.
However, their home ground, Dun's Park, has been ruled ineligible to host continental matches, leaving the club without a confirmed venue for their home fixtures. "Despite winning the league, Bibiani GoldStars will not be able to host CAF Champions League matches in Bibiani. "The reason is simple, but deeply unfortunate: we do not have a stadium that meets CAF standards," Mr Brefo told Parliament.
