Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Bright Asamoah Brefo, has warned that the inability of Bibiani GoldStars to host CAF Champions League matches in their hometown will cost the community valuable opportunities for economic growth.

Addressing Parliament on Monday, he urged the government to prioritise the construction of a CAF-approved stadium in the Western North Region to reverse what he described as a major setback for the area. "Mr.

Speaker, this means Bibiani and the entire Western North Region will be denied the immense economic, social, and emotional benefit of hosting continental football — a benefit that includes increased tourism, growth in local commerce, job creation, and a renewed sense of regional pride and unity," the MP said.

GoldStars, who won their first Ghana Premier League title in the 2024/25 season, are preparing for their debut campaign in the CAF Champions League.
