Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Bright Asamoah Brefo, has expressed deep disappointment over the inability of Bibiani GoldStars to host their upcoming CAF Champions League matches in their hometown.
He described the situation as "unfortunate," calling on government to urgently address the infrastructural gap that has denied the club the chance to play continental football at home.
Mr Brefo made the remarks in Parliament on Monday, lamenting that despite GoldStars' historic Ghana Premier League triumph in the 2024/25 season, fans in Bibiani and the wider Western North Region will be deprived of the socio-economic benefits that come with hosting international fixtures. "Despite winning the league, Bibiani GoldStars will not be able to host CAF Champions League matches in Bibiani.
The reason is simple, but deeply unfortunate: we do not have a stadium that meets CAF standards," he stated.
