A  member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, Hamza Suhuyini, has expressed scepticism over the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) willingness to support accountability efforts in the ongoing National Service Authority (NSA) payroll fraud scandal.

Speaking on Channel One TV's The Big Issue on Saturday, June 14, Suhuyini said he doubts the NPP will allow due process to take its course, predicting the party will instead jump to the defence of its former appointees implicated in the GH¢548 million scandal. "This is an opportune moment for the NPP to rebrand.

I expected them to support the government in its efforts to recover the stolen funds and enforce accountability.

But I am pretty convinced that, as usual, they will defend the accused persons not out of love for the Republic, but to protect partisan interest." Suhuyini criticised the NPP's silence since the Attorney General's announcement, arguing that a strong public condemnation from the party could have demonstrated its commitment to fighting corruption.
