Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, Hamza Suhuyini, says the government is committed to a comprehensive overhaul of the public sector wage structure to deliver fair and sustainable compensation for workers, including nurses and midwives.

Speaking on Channel One TV's Big Issue on Saturday, June 14, Suhuyini acknowledged the concerns raised by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) during their just-ended strike, describing them as valid and indicative of deeper structural issues. "If they had taken their time and engaged more productively with us, they would have realised that the government is not opposed to their demands.

The real issue was always the implementation timeline," Suhuyini stated.

He maintained that the GRNMA's demands were reasonable and aligned with the government's broader objective to reform the wage system to support quality public service delivery. "We all admit that the current public sector wage system is inadequate.
