A coalition of former and immediate-past Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially petitioned the party's National Council to grant them voting rights in all internal elections.

In a formal request addressed to the council, Solomon Darko-Quarm, former District Chief Executive of Gomoa East, and Richmond Amponsah, former DCE of Achiase, emphasised the critical role MMDCEs play in advancing the party's grassroots mobilisation and overall electoral success.

The petition argues that granting voting privileges would boost engagement and harness their collective experience for the party's reorganization ahead of the 2028 elections.

The letter underscores the historical contributions of MMDCEs, noting that many previously served as constituency and regional officers, playing instrumental roles in securing the NPP's 2016 victory.
