The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has formally directed the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Sofo Rashid Tanko-Computer, to cease using the academic title "Doctor" in all official and public representations.
In an official letter addressed to Tanko-Computer, GTEC expressed serious concerns over the continued use of an unearned academic title, stating that such practices could be misleading and fall outside established academic protocols in Ghana.
The Commission emphasised that the conferment of titles must be based on formal academic validation, either from institutions within Ghana or abroad.
GTEC has requested Tanko-Computer to provide verifiable proof that the title has been removed from all relevant documents, institutional profiles, websites, letterheads, and other public-facing materials.
