President has ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to parts of the Bono East Region following a rise in highway and armed robbery incidents.
Speaking during the NDC's "Thank You Tour" in the region on May 29, 2025, President Mahama disclosed that he has instructed the Minister of the Interior and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohunu to reinforce security operations in areas affected by these criminal activities. "I have directed the Minister for the Interior and the Inspector General of Police to deploy additional security personnel to areas where robbery has become rampant.
We will also provide the police with patrol vehicles and communication equipment so that they can keep you safe," he stated.
The president identified districts such as Atebubu-Amantin, Sene East, Sene West, and Pru as key hotspots within the region's eastern corridor.
