The Senior Staff Association of Ghana, together with the Technical University Administrators Association and the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Association, has suspended its indefinite strike following the government's positive response to their demands.
The strike, which began on Wednesday, May 21, was declared in response to what the unions described as a six-month delay in implementing an agreement to improve conditions of service.
The unions accused both the current and previous governments of failing to honour the terms of the negotiated deal.
The National Chairman of the Senior Staff Association George Ansong, said the decision to strike was made after exhausting all other avenues. "The Technical Universities Administrators Association of Ghana (TUWAG) and the Federation of University Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSAG) announce, with deep regret but unwavering resolve, our decision to embark on an indefinite strike action," Mr Ansong stated.
