Legal representatives of Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, have issued a rejoinder to a recent article published on Gh.studio.opera.com titled "Meet the Youngest Professor in the History of Ghana." In a formal letter dated May 17, 2025, legal counsel Richard Osei Anane Esq of Butu Law Centre stated that the article is "false and misleading" and demanded a full retraction and apology within 30 days of the rejoinder's publication.
According to the rejoinder, Prof Oduro Owusu has not granted any interview to the publication or its reporters and has no knowledge of the information used to compile the article. "I am instructed by my client to state that he has not granted any interview to your reporter(s) to warrant the said misleading publication about his academic profile," the letter read.
The legal notice further clarified that Prof Oduro Owusu could not have been appointed the "youngest professor in the history of Ghana," as the article claims, because at age 39, when he returned to Ghana after postgraduate studies in Germany, he joined the University of Ghana as a lecturer, not a full professor.
The article in question highlighted Prof Oduro Owusu's academic journey, noting that he obtained his MSc and Ph D in Agricultural Sciences in Germany and rose through the academic ranks due to his work in entomology and sustainable agriculture.
