Ghanaian business mogul Dr Kofi Amoah, popularly known as Citizen Kofi, has called for the prosecution of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the (NPP), widely known as Chairman Wontumi.

According to Dr Amoah, Wontumi should face the law for his alleged involvement in destroying forest reserves, particularly the Nimiri Forest in the Ashanti Region.

His comments follow the government's directive, through the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Armah Kofi Buah, instructing the Minerals Commission to revoke the mining lease of Akonta Mining, a company owned by Wontumi, over alleged breaches.

In a social media post on April 21, 2025, Dr Amoah stated, "He should be arrested and prosecuted, and if found guilty, his ill-gotten gains (gold bars, cash, bank accounts, etc.) from the destructive mining operations must be seized.
