President John Dramani Mahama has thanked labour unions for accepting the 10 per cent pay rise.
Delivering his maiden State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday, February 27, he noted that this year is a year of sacrifice. "I am confident that the sacrifice we have all made this year will benefit our county going into the future," he said. "Together we shall build the Ghana we all want," he stressed.
President Mahama earlier assured organised labour that the government will not engage in wasteful spending.
He says the government is tightening its belt as it seeks to rebuild the economy.
