The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has raised concerns about the soaring cost of doing business in Ghana, attributing it partly to excessive shipping charges and inefficiencies in the sector.

Speaking on TV3's The KeyPoints, Professor Gyampo highlighted how some stakeholders in the shipping industry are deliberately inflating costs to exploit businesses. "The cost of doing business in Ghana is very high.

Some people are charging exorbitant prices on shipping items, being deliberately incompetent just to cause people to pay demurrage," he stated.

The rising costs, he warned, are discouraging investment and pushing businesses to consider relocating to more affordable markets. "That it is making the doing of business in Ghana very high, some are threatening to move their businesses to countries where it is less expensive to do business,"he added.
