The North East Council of State Member, Chief Saaka Abuba, is urging the Minister of Interior to lift the recent curfew imposed on Walewale and its surrounding areas.
The Ministry of Interior has the authority to impose curfews under certain circumstances, typically in consultation with local leaders and security agencies.
On the back of this, Chief Abuba has argued that imposing a curfew in a peaceful area is unnecessary and that providing escorts for travelers on the N10 route would be a more effective way to protect lives. "If I was having the chance to sit with the regional minister, my advice to the regional minister would have been that they should get us the security to be giving us escorts.
I don't think Walewale needs curfew.
