The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of seven individuals in connection with the robbery and hijacking of a fuel tanker at Teacher Mante in the Eastern Region.
In a statement dated August 11, 2025, the police reported that the suspects forcibly took control of a fuel tanker with registration number GT 2493-20, loaded with 5,400 liters of fuel, handcuffed the driver and his mate, and placed them in a pickup truck while two of the suspects drove the tanker away. "Preliminary investigations indicate that on August 6, 2025, the suspects, aboard a green pickup truck, intercepted the fuel tanker with registration number GT 2493-20 and forcibly took control of it.
The driver and his mate were handcuffed and placed in the pickup, while two of the suspects drove the tanker away.
On August 7, 2025, police personnel in the Accra Region intercepted the pickup and rescued the victims.
