A youth group known as the Osu for Peace, Progress, and Unity Movement (OPPUM) has cautioned the Daily Graphic against presenting Bernard Botchway as the Osu Mantse.
The group has demanded a retraction of recent publications portraying him as such.
In a letter signed by the group's Public Relations Officer, Reginald Opintan, OPPUM expressed its strong disapproval of recent reports in which Bernard Botchway, also referred to as Nortse Nii Nortey Owuo IV, was described as the Osu Mantse.
The group stated that it had noted these publications "with disgust." According to OPPUM, despite a letter from Nii Saban Atsen VII, a gazetted chief whose name appears in the National Register of Chiefs, urging the management and editors of Daily Graphic to retract the publications, the newspaper had failed to comply or offer an apology to the chiefs and people of Osu. "We have noted the complicity of the management and editors of the Daily Graphic in promoting the false claims of Bernard Botchway.
