The town of Ejura in Ghana's Ashanti Region descended into chaos on January 11, 2025, after the death of a young man in police custody sparked outrage among residents.

The man, arrested for allegedly purchasing a stolen phone, reportedly died while in custody.

Without informing his family, police moved his body to the morgue, a decision that enraged the local youth and set off a violent uprising.

The angry crowd attacked the Ejura police station, setting it on fire along with nearby houses and vehicles.
