A leading voice against illegal mining in Ghana, Erastus Asare Donkor, has urged the GoldBod not to be fixated only on gains.
He argues that the GoldBod must also be concerned with the traceability of the gold they purchase.
To him, knowing where the gold comes from must be of paramount interest to the GoldBod.
Erastus believes that if such mechanisms are not put in place, the GoldBod may become a vehicle for encouraging illegally sourced gold.
