A 62-year-old businesswoman, Nana Ama Nwarueze, also known as Ohemaa, has been arraigned before the Achimota Circuit Court for allegedly defrauding a businessman of $80,000 under the pretense of selling four plots of land situated at East Legon, according to a report by Graphic Online.
According to court documents, the accused falsely presented herself as the rightful owner of the land and succeeded in convincing the complainant, Roger Agbavor, to part with the money.
The prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stephen Ahiale, has charged Nwarueze with one count of fraudulent land transaction and another count of defrauding by false pretence.
The report states that Nwarueze has pleaded not guilty to both charges and was granted bail by the presiding judge, Akosua Anokyewaa Adjepong.
