The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has ruled that three Members of Parliament (MPs) who won disputed seats cannot be sworn in.
The three MPs, whose elections were declared null and void by the High Court, include Francis Xavier Sosu, Edward Kugan Abreu, and Perpetual Acidri.
The High Court's decisions were based on electoral irregularities and malpractices that affected the outcome of the elections.
The Speaker's decision is in accordance with Article 97 of the 1992 Constitution, which states that a person who has been declared unfit to hold office as a member of Parliament shall not be eligible to take and hold the office of a member of Parliament.
