Vincent Odotei Sowah urges Kotoko, Hearts fans to embrace modern supporter responsibilities

In an exclusive interview on Citi TV’s Football Made in Ghana, Sowah-Odotei addressed the ongoing challenges faced by Hearts as they enter the final phase of the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season.

Currently placed ninth in the league standings after 26 games, Hearts’ on-field results have been below expectations, prompting scrutiny from supporters and stakeholders alike.

Following a recent incident where Kotoko fans disrupted a training session to demand the sacking of head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, Sowah-Odotei stressed the importance of supporters understanding their roles in supporting their respective clubs.

“To me, I believe Hearts and Kotoko share a common challenge; our supporters must start embracing the modern responsibilities of being supporters.

Supporters, management, and the board all have their roles and boundaries, and it’s crucial to respect these boundaries and allow everyone the space to make decisions,” Sowah-Odotei asserted.

He further noted that internal issues within the clubs have contributed to vulnerabilities that external stakeholders have exploited, leading to challenges for both Hearts of Oak and Kotoko.

“I believe we’ve been victims of our own internal issues that has conveyed a sort of chaos to our stakeholders have taken advantage of it and more or less brought Hearts of Oak and Kotoko on their knees.”

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak’s next fixture is against Legon Cities on Saturday, April 20.
