”Kotoko will not progress when there’s division among fans” – Former captain Amos Frimpong

Former Asante Kotoko captain, Amos Frimpong, has pinpointed the division among the club’s fans as the primary reason for their struggles in the ongoing season.

Frimpong, who remains closely connected to the club through supporter platforms, revealed that there is a significant split among the fan base, with some supporting the current management while others are aligned with the previous leadership.

In an interview with Guide Radio, the Kotoko legend highlighted the detrimental impact of this division on the team’s performance.

“I would not say it’s because of the technical team or the problem is only the technical handlers.

I am on most platforms of Asante Kotoko supporters.

Currently, you could see most of them or the supporters are divided into two.

Some are still supporting the past management and some are also supporting the current management,” Frimpong explained.

“And if things like this happen in the team, it will always be difficult for the team to progress.

So personally, I will attribute this recent performance to the division in Asante Kotoko because I see there is no unity among the supporters and it is really causing the team as a whole,” he added.

Asante Kotoko’s struggles have been evident throughout the season, with only one win in 2024 and a decline in form that has seen them drop from title
