Gbande rejects NPP’s call for Chief Justice to resign

The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has rejected calls by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie to resign, insisting that the Chief Justice is neither affiliated with the governing party nor has made comments that warrant his resignation.

Mr Gbande was responding to criticism from the NPP following remarks by the Chief Justice during recent s to some state-owned institutions, including the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) and the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).“Let's interrogate further the comments of the Chief Justice whether or not the Chief Justice is a citizen of Ghana and that he lacks the capacity to comment on issues that affect him as a citizen of Ghana,” he argued.
