Lawyer and social media influencer Ama Governor, also known as Elorm Ababio, has expressed her distress after being held in police custody for 48 hours without food or water.

The influencer, along with 41 other protesters, were arrested during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration over the weekend.

The protest, organized by Democracy Hub, aimed to address the illegal mining crisis (galamsey) in Ghana but escalated into violent clashes at the 37 Intersection in Accra on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Appearing at the Accra court on September 24, 2024, in handcuffs, Ama Governor spoke emotionally to the press, detailing the harsh conditions she has endured since her arrest. "I want to go, so they grant us bail, 48 hours, no food, no water," she cried out.
