The (NPP) has directed its members to respond in equal measure to any violence and vandalism orchestrated by the National Democratic Congress targeting the party.

A statement issued by the party's National Youth Organiser, Salam Mustapha, urged members to be vigilant, directing them to destroy and vandalise John Dramani Mahama's posters and billboards if similar actions are taken against 's. "It has come to our attention that the NDC will mount an operation to destroy billboards and posters of our presidential candidate, starting tonight. "We are by this release activating all of our systems across the constituencies and regions to be on the lookout and we further direct that every billboard and poster of John Mahama too should be pulled down and shredded into pieces if they go ahead with the said operation," the statement said.

The statement accused the police service of turning a blind eye to the actions of the NDC, vowing not to report any incidents to them but to instead take matters into their own hands. "To the police service across the country, since you are not interested in this matter, we will not come to you to report anything.

We will nib this buffoonery ourselves by exacting proportional counter response," it added.
