The Ashanti Regional Manager of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Jerry Edem Aflabo, has revealed that all excavators imported into the country will now be registered at the port of entry before being released.

This initiative aims to control the influx of excavators often used in illegal mining activities.

During a working visit to the Ashanti regional office of Citi FM/Channel One TV in Kumasi on Thursday, May 15, Aflabo also disclosed that the DVLA will collaborate with national security in the region to track and register unregistered excavators already in use. "Moving forward, the excavators that are imported will be registered at the port before they even move out.

That is a solution going forward.
