The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a one-week ultimatum to the Electoral Commission (EC) to address concerns regarding alleged discrepancies in the voter register and allow for an independent forensic audit of the register.
On Tuesday, September 17, NDC held its highly anticipated 'Enough is Enough' demonstration against the Electoral Commission (EC) across the 16 regions of the country.
Thousands of NDC supporters, dressed in party colours, took to the streets in major cities nationwide, demanding greater accountability and calling for the 2024 voter register to be audited.
In an interview on Eyewitness News, the Communications Officer for the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, stated that the commission has one week to respond to their concerns.
He added that if the commission fails, the NDC will roll out a series of activities that will compel the NDC to act. "Well, what next is simple, we are giving the EC one week and we hope to hear from them favourably.
We hope that their conscience will prick them to do the sensible thing which is to allow for the register to be audited if they have nothing to hide. "If we do not hear favourably from them in the next one week, the NDC will roll out a series of activities that will be undertaken to compel the electoral commission to do the right thing, it is as simple as that," he stated.
