Sam George has stepped in to suspend the controversial enforcement exercise against unlicensed delivery riders in Accra. "I have directed this afternoon an immediate halt to the ongoing enforcement action by the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission," he announced in a post on X, following chaotic scenes that unfolded during the operation on Thursday, August 21.

The joint exercise, conducted by the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission (PCSRC) in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, resulted in the seizure of several motorcycles and led to heated confrontations with aggrieved riders near the National Theatre.

The clashes, captured in viral footage, provoked widespread public criticism.

However, the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation explained that while regulations must be upheld, they must also be implemented with consideration for citizens. "I believe the Commission needs to do more stakeholder engagements and public sensitisation before the enforcement activities commence.
