The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, says although he would personally be glad if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) collapsed, such a development would be detrimental to Ghana's democracy.

Speaking on TV3's New Day on Monday, August 18, 2025, he said the country needs a strong opposition party to hold the government of the day accountable and strengthen democratic governance. "I'll be happy if the NPP collapses; yes, I will, but is that the best for Ghana?
