Accra-based TV station TV XYZ has officially apologized for falsely identifying Adwoa Animah, a supporter of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as UK-based TikTok personality Alberta Ocran.
The apology came after Animah condemned the broadcast as a "reckless misrepresentation" and warned she would pursue legal action.
During a statement aired on the same programme, host Mugabe Maase admitted the error, saying: "This was a case of mistaken identity. "The images we used were incorrect.
We sincerely apologise to Adwoa Animah for the distress and harm this may have caused." The original segment linked Animah's image to a controversial TikTok account allegedly inciting political tension from the UK.
