The Defence Press Corps (DPC) has paid a glowing tribute to the late Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, while urging the government to take urgent action on issues he was addressing before his death - including the theft of ammunition and the completion of abandoned housing projects for soldiers and officers.

Speaking on behalf of the corps with the media on Wednesday, August 13, after a signing of the book of condolence in honour of the late minister at the Ministry of Defence, the Dean of the DPC, Joseph Armstrong Gold-Alorgbey, expressed disbelief and sorrow over the loss of the minister. "I still cannot believe that Dr Omane Boamah is gone.

He was one of the few ministers who recognised the existence of the press corps and engaged with all members within two weeks of assuming office," he said.

Gold-Alorgbey extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the nation and urged governments not to lose sight of the matters Dr Omane Boamah was handling. "Government must remember the discoveries made by Dr Omane Boamah and act accordingly," he stressed. "This includes addressing the theft of ammunition and the abandoned housing projects meant for soldiers and officers," he added.
