The Association of Liberal Muslims-Ghana (ALMG) has expressed deep sorrow over the helicopter crash in Adansi Sikaman, Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of eight people, including government appointees, party executives, and crew members.
In a statement released on Tuesday, ALMG Executive Secretary Umar Harris conveyed the association's condolences to the bereaved families, friends, and colleagues, describing the deceased as "exemplars of integrity, kindness, and loyalty" who had made significant contributions to Ghana's development. "Their presence illuminated those around them, and their absence will be deeply felt," Harris said. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the eight distinguished Ghanaians who perished." The association also extended its sympathies to President , calling the incident a "national loss" that would be remembered for the victims' dedication, service, and sacrifices.
ALMG is urging the government to launch a comprehensive probe into the crash and to take immediate measures to improve the safety of official air travel. "We urge government to, as a matter of urgency, launch a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and to take all necessary steps to enhance the safety of official air travel going forward, to avoid the repetition of such tragedies in the future," Harris added.
The statement concluded with a prayer for the bereaved families and for eternal rest for the victims. "May the Almighty Allah comfort the bereaved families and grant eternal rest to the departed," it read.
