The Ghana Police Service has dismissed reports claiming its officers raided the home of the Bono East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), leading to the death of one person.
In a statement shared on their official Facebook page, the police said the claim is "false" and clarified that the operation was part of a robbery response on August 1, 2025, around 1:20 am, based on credible intelligence.
According to the police, officers intercepted a gang of robbers in Techiman, during which one suspect, later identified as Seidu Bukari, sustained gunshot wounds and later died at the hospital.
Bukari was a known member of a robbery syndicate reportedly responsible for several attacks in the area, particularly stealing and trafficking motorbikes to Kumasi.
