Black Satellites head coach Desmond Ofei says Ghana's participation in the 2025 WAFU B U20 Boys Cup provided a valuable opportunity to assess new talent as the team rebuilds after missing out on U20 World Cup qualification.

Speaking after Ghana sealed third place with a 2-0 win over Niger at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Ofei reflected on the broader purpose of the tournament. "It's not been easy because I think we're very disappointed after Egypt.

We really wanted to qualify for the World Cup," he said. "We had to dust ourselves really quickly to come back and get the team ready to participate in this tournament." Ofei noted that only a fraction of the squad had featured in the previous U20 AFCON. "On the other hand, it's good for us because we gave a lot of opportunity to new and young talented boys and we showed quality in some moments," he added.

The bronze medal win was secured by a brace from Aziz Musibau, who netted from the spot and later finished a flowing team move.
