The Member of Parliament-elect for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has officially taken her seat in Parliament following a brief swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, July 23.

Her induction was marked by a dramatic walkout from the Minority Caucus, after Speaker Alban Bagbin denied Minority Chief Whip Frank Annor Dompreh the opportunity to make a statement before proceedings began.

Aubynn's entry into Parliament follows a tightly contested rerun in the Ablekuma North constituency, where she clinched victory with 34,090 votes, narrowly edging out the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Akua Afriyie, who polled 33,881.

The rerun, conducted across 19 polling stations, was necessitated by the Electoral Commission's decision to annul the December 2024 parliamentary results over allegations of irregularities, including unsigned pink sheets and inconsistencies in vote tallies.
