A gynecologist at the Medifem Specialist and Fertility Center, Dr Ernest Saka, has stated that the most definitive cure for uterine fibroids is the surgical removal of the womb, especially for women who have completed their families.

In an interview with GhanaWeb's Stella Dzeidzorm Sogli on the Health Focus, Dr Saka explained that fibroids grow in the muscles of the uterus, and removing the womb entirely eliminates the possibility of fibroid recurrence. "The ultimate solution or cure to fibroids is to take the womb out.

If you've completed your family and have no intention of having any more children, it is a good option," he said.

Dr Saka also offered advice on prevention, encouraging women to begin childbearing early rather than delaying.
