Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang says Ghana's transformation depends on strong collaboration between leadership and traditional authorities, following a high-level visit by the Overlord of Mamprugu's delegation to the Presidency.

In a Facebook post sighted by MyNewsGh, the Vice President disclosed that she joined President John Dramani Mahama to receive chiefs and elders from the palace of His Royal Majesty Naa Bohagu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga, the Na Yiri of Mamprugu. "Today, I joined His Excellency the President to welcome a delegation of chiefs and elders from the palace of the Overlord of Mamprugu, His Royal Majesty Na Yiri Naa Bohagu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga, to the Presidency," she wrote.

The visit, which focused on development and unity, saw a speech delivered on behalf of the Na Yiri commending government's efforts to address infrastructural challenges in the North East region. "His Royal Majesty expressed his appreciation for the Big Push agenda our government has instituted, which allocates significant resources for critical infrastructure in the North East region," the Vice President said, quoting the speech.

According to her, the Na Yiri noted that such interventions would significantly boost development, particularly in education and infrastructure, while urging his people and all Ghanaians to "embrace the new national spirit that aims to revamp the economy and make Ghana a better country." President Mahama also used the occasion to reaffirm his government's commitment to the region's growth.
