Shayibu Abubakari has revealed that his move to Asante Kotoko came as a surprise, following confirmation of his signing on a three-year contract with the Ghanaian giants.
The defender completed his medical this week and has officially joined the club ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
The 21-year-old expressed both excitement and disbelief at the opportunity, describing the transfer as unexpected. "When it started, I was hearing it from people, and I was surprised because I wasn't expecting it." Abubakari joins from Karela United, where he impressed with his energy and consistency.
His career has also included stints with Real Tamale United and a brief spell in the Czech Republic with Mladá Boleslav.
