The Minister for the Interior, , under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior, has issued a directive requiring the registration of all mining machinery with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) by August 1, 2025.
The move forms part of the ministry's efforts to streamline and improve operations in the mining sector across the country.
According to a statement released on the ministry's official website on July 15, 2025, any mining machinery that is not registered by the deadline will be confiscated by the State. "As part of efforts to reform the mining sector in the country, all machinery used in mining activities must be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) by 1st August 2025.
Equipment that remains unregistered after this deadline will be confiscated by the State," the statement read.
