Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah has announced that the government has withdrawn military protection for civilians who are not entitled to it.
The decision is to help stop the misuse of military personnel for personal gain.
In a Facebook post announcing the new arrangement, the Minister sounded a note of caution to all military men that if they are seen providing unauthirized guard duties and any other unauthorized duties they will face far-reaching consequences. "As part of our #Reset agenda to restore discipline and accountability, we've withdrawn military protection for civilians (including public officials, former ministers, businessmen, and women, among others) who are not entitled to it.
This decision aims to STOP the misuse of military personnel for personal gain.
