Ablekuma North Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Fredrick Green, has alleged that the just-ended parliamentary rerun was manipulated to favour the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the outcome as a robbery.
His reaction comes after the Electoral Commission declared the NDC's Ewurabena Aubynn as MP-elect with 34,090 votes, defeating the NPP's Akua Afriyie, who polled 33,881.
Speaking on the Channel One Newsroom on Friday, July 11, Green claimed the Electoral Commission and elements within government deliberately influenced the process to deny the NPP victory.
He pointed to incidents of alleged voter intimidation and the activities of vigilante groups, accusing the authorities of enabling a rerun in 19 polling stations under questionable circumstances. "We just thank everyone in Ablekuma North, but we are not surprised that this was going to happen, we have been robbed, like we have been saying.
