Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has called for a complete overhaul of the leadership of the Electoral Commission (EC), stating that the current team lacks the credibility and competence needed to manage Ghana's electoral processes.
Speaking on Face to Face on Channel One TV with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Tuesday, July 8, Gbande expressed strong reservations about the leadership of the EC, particularly its Chairperson, Jean Mensa.
According to him, the Commission under her leadership has been riddled with controversy, mistrust, and partisanship, making it incapable of commanding public confidence. "We have never wanted an EC in Jean Mensa to do our bidding.
We feel that she's [Jean Mensa] a misfit for that office, and she doesn't give the level of reliability and the trust the public expects in an Electoral Commission.
