President John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to members of the newly inaugurated GoldBod Taskforce, stressing that any form of misconduct or abuse of authority will attract immediate and severe sanctions.

Speaking at the official inauguration of the task force on Tuesday, July 8, at the National Security Secretariat, Mahama said the fight against illegal gold trade will be uncompromising and rooted in discipline and accountability. "To the task force, abuse of your authority won't be tolerated.

Any officer found engaging in misconduct will face immediate sanctions, including dismissal, prosecution, and forfeiture of entitlements," the president warned.

The GoldBod Taskforce, comprised of personnel from the military, national security, and allied agencies, has been established to crackdown on illegal gold smuggling and unregulated trading activities within Ghana's mining sector.
