Ibrahim Adjei, a former Assistant Secretary at the Office of former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has advised the government to prioritise expanding public tertiary institutions instead of funding private ones under the newly launched 'No Fees Stress' Policy.

His comment follows the official launch of the education financing initiative by President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, July 4, 2025, in Koforidua, where the President outlined the policy's goal of removing financial barriers and increasing access to tertiary education for all eligible students.

Speaking on the Breakfast Show on Channel One TV on Monday, July 7, Ibrahim Adjei questioned the policy's emphasis on including private universities, arguing that government resources should be used to strengthen and expand the capacity of public universities. "Let us say, on average, a private university can hold about 100,000 students.

That number multiplied means that the government will need about 10 other schools to create that space to allow students to come in.
